Restocking Guide

Restock Guide
Individual Shop Tips

Intro

Restocking is a neopian term that refers to buying items from main shops and selling them to other users on the shop wizard for a profit. It is one of the most fun and effective ways to make money on neopets, and I have enjoyed many afternoons of signing on to a full shop till ;). Read on, dear neopians, to find out exactly how to accomplish this.

Preparation

Because neopet restocking is such a competitive task, speed is an important factor in restock success. The following is a list of helpful tips in preparing yourself and your computer for restocking:

Step-by-Step

The first step to restocking is refreshing. Refreshing is probably the least exciting part of restocking, and it is the longest :(. I usually have two shop windows open, but you may want to start out with one. A good shop to begin restocking at is the Book Shop (this is one place I personally restock.) For this example, that is the shop I will be using. Because restocks are now random, I refresh my page every 5 seconds or so, but 10 or even 15 seconds is perfectly fine. Most of the time the shop will be empty, but here is a screen with an item in the shop:

Clicking on the item will make a popup appear. Click ok to move on (remember to be quick!)

Now it's time to haggle! For speed reasons, type in repeating numbers like 333 or round down (300). You may not make as much money reselling this way, but if you haggle for more than a screen the item will probably be out of stock, and then you will make nothing :(. Here is an illustration:

If you took too long, you will get this screen telling you the item is out of stock. Don't worry, there's always another chance!

You probably won't get anything on your first few restocking endeavors, but don't give up! Restocking becomes much easier as you practice!

How Not to Get Frozen

Ok I'm done...

By now you should know the basics of restocking, and not getting frozen for restocking, and I gave Moxilla free advertising. So you should be set for the real world, eh? Anyway, have fun on all your restocking ventures, and good luck!

Individual Shop Guides, Alphabetical Order

Book Shop

The Book Shop is, in my opinion, the easiest place to begin restocking. Perfect for beginners and challenging for experts, this shop stocks things for every price range and ability level. I suggest having 20-50k for intermediate/advanced restockers, and 5-10k per restock for beginners.

Suggestions

Beginners: If you are a beginner, try to restock books that are <1000NP and restock in large numbers (20's or 30's) Many of these can be sold for profit, and these are the easiest to restock.

Intermediate-Advanced: After you get the hang of buying books, or when you want an all book shop for a mall, or whatever the reason, you will want books for a better profit. Most high profit books are priced near the same as low profit books, and always go for a book priced 5k-10k. The 2,500NP books that restock in doubles are also great for intermediate restockers and tend to make a large profit.
Note: Watch out for the book Scaredy Acara, as it almost always loses NP.

Furniture Store

The furniture store is a great shop for restocking. There are a lot of people who attempt to restock here, as with almost any shop, but there are many good items tobe found.
Better yet, there are many items that look fairly standard that are actually worth a lot. This means that while some people will pass them by as worthless items, you can buy them and make a substantial profit.

Suggestions

General suggestions: Items priced between 2,500 and 3,500 sell for a large profit.
Fast sellers: The luxurious sofa (~600 NP profit), pink rug (~600 NP profit), tree stump table (~1000 NP profit), and plain white toilet (~600 NP profit) sell very quickly with some profit.
Good groups: Generally, the following groups of items are worth a lot or sell well and for a profit, so you should buy them as soon as you see them:

  • Snow
  • Rainbow
  • Funky Blue and Orange
  • Island
  • <Fairy> of some sort
  • Sunny Yellow
  • Purple
  • Disco
  • Paper lanterns

Warnings: The rainbow round table is NOT a good item to restock. It gives about a 3000 NP loss.

Shop Statistics

Suggested starting neopoints: 50-100k. There are many good items here and these usually don't cost more than about 5,000 NPs, but it is good to have a nice excess, so that you don't miss that next 50k-profit item because you didn't have enough money on you.

Magic Shop

The magic shop is definitely for advanced restockers only. While some other items make a small profit margin, the morphing potions here are what really brings in the crowd. You have to be really fast to get anything here, as morphing potions only stock every few restocks and usually only one restocks. Every single person in the shop will also be trying to buy it!

Buy:

  • Morphing Potions
  • Nova items

Avoid

  • Green Uni Morphing Potion

Petpet Shop

The petpet shop is not a good place to begin restocking. I recommend it only for experienced restockers who are patience and quick ;) Buy only the petpets in the list below, all others should be avoided as they are negative Neopoints!

Petpets That Profit:

  • Huggy
  • Hornsby
  • Noil

Wintery Petpet Shop

Like other pepet shops, this shop is not for beginners. It restocks more than the main petpet shop and more petpets make a profit. Don't get distracted or you'll miss the restock!

  • Candychan
  • Polarchuck
  • Gwalla
